Dr. Elizabeth Sherrell-Davis, 63, has loved the Natomas community since 2018. She went to school in the San Francisco Bay Area and feels she has many “community children” due to her long time in the area.
This local has an intriguing career with the California Department of Corrections as an Instructional Design Manager. She is also a College Professor at Folsom Lake College with the Prison Re-Entry Education Program. Additionally, Dr. Sherrell-Davis is a business and life coach! She is an accomplished educator with over 15 years of higher education teaching, coupled with 25 years of experience in government, education, and business. She truly knows what she’s doing!
Former colleague Anthony Williams, a Recruiter at Touro College of Pharmacy, has plenty to say about his former coworker:
“Elizabeth and I worked together for almost four years. She never gives up and follows through with a successful outcome to the goals and objectives set before her.”
It is Elizabeth’s passion to work with diverse and underrepresented communities, including those in the state prison system. She sees herself as an experienced community relationship builder and a “change agent.” Some would call her an accomplished servant leader. Her impressive academic background and extensive experience prove her capability to implement exceptional educational programs. Her heart showcases deep compassion and a drive to help others improve their lives.
Dr. Elizabeth partners with numerous organizations in the Natomas, Sacramento area to volunteer her time and share her expertise. One example is a group that works with area public schools to provide mentoring to young girls, showing them the future opportunities ahead. When she’s not helping others, she enjoys traveling and trying international cuisine.
Dr. Tina Burton, the Purdue Research Foundation Director, who also worked with Dr. Elizabeth in the past, was “constantly amazed by her stamina and level of dedication to the vision of the organization, employees, and staff she interacted with daily.” She described Dr. Elizabeth as having both integrity and charisma, along with the “unique ability to take difficult, seemingly impossible goals, and make them seem doable.”
Elizabeth’s favorite local business is Sprouts, and she enjoys dining at Curry Corner. She adores the community, appreciating the MarketPlace, beautiful parks, local restaurants, and even the lovely trees! To relax, she enjoys walking, having girls’ nights out, attending community events, and spending time with family. Hosting dinner parties for friends and family is a true joy for her.
After a busy day, Dr. Sherrell-Davis values quiet moments at home—no sound, just peace! She may be found reading her favorite book, Servant Leader. When ready for some noise, she’ll cheer on the Sacramento Kings. For a getaway, she loves visiting Martha’s Vineyard.
This community gem completed her Ph.D. program in 2016 and opened her coaching business, Signature of Excellence Life Coach, LLC, in the summer of 2023. Through her company, she offers business and career coaching to those in the Natomas region, aiming to promote a healthy mind, body, and soul. She even organizes vision board parties! Dr. Elizabeth plans to retire in 2024, and we can’t thank her enough for the difference she has made in so many lives. We know she’s not done yet!
